William Goldthistle / Cold Bill – William always aspired to be a heroic soldier, but a lack of big battles during his life led to many, many nights of boring guard duty. He finally received an order to go fight an army of marching undead, though during the actual conflict his allies were put to rout and he stumbled across a cursed blade. Now he serves as an ally of sorts for the forces of undeath, slowly figuring out just how deep a hole he’s fallen into.

“Kuru” – An old black-bladed spear that William found, it has only referred to itself as “Kuru.” It has the ability to speak telepathically with William, though there is more at work than it cares to let on.

Highlord Incridulostus Hsin – The leader of the undead forces with which William has been sided. A careful, calculating figure with centuries of experience and a deep regard for his fellow undead, Hsin currently leads an effort to destroy human necromancers that seek to enslave the sentient undead.

Mim – An advance scout for Hsin’s undead forces, she also bears a possessed weapon. She speaks only as much as is needed to answer questions and give simple instructions, putting her at odds with Bill’s wordy disposition. She gave William the nickname “Cold Bill” during their first encounter.
