“Well, now, you at last look the part,” Highlord Hsin said, “though we await your first success in battle before passing judgment.”

“There’re a lot of skulls on this,” William said, shifting about in his new armor. “This seem like a lot of skulls to you?”

Highlord Hsin closed his eyes. “Skulls help with intimidation of the humans,” he said with a sneer. “It reminds them of their mortality.”

“Where did you get all these little skulls?” William asked.

“Children tend to make for poor converts and poorer soldiers. And it seems a pity to let them go to waste.”

William stopped moving. “That…that is probably the worst thing I’ve heard all day, and this has been a pretty bad day,” he said. “If they’re for scaring people, why aren’t you wearing any skulls?”

“Where did you get those clothes anyhow? That doesn’t look like anything I’ve seen back home,” William said. Highlord Hsin smirked.

“When was the last time you had contact with my people?” Highlord Hsin said, raising his chin.

“I didn’t know you had a people. I thought most of the undead were like that,” William said, indicating a twitching zombie with its jaw hung slack.

“Where I am from, those are the rare exceptions, while I am the norm. Perhaps it is time to educate you…”
